Man should conquer himself

Man should conquer himself

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Of all the wisdom
big and vast
to be gathered
man is small
his heart smaller.
Not content
to settle
with less
he wants more
bringing war
none the wiser.

Greed is at the heart of war, even religious wars, you are so right
And never do we seem to learn from our mistakes, to elevate, always sidetracked by covetousness.
The title is stellar. Should be the first commandment Thou shalt conquer thyself
Ego is so essentially human, it is both our downfall and our gift.

There have been wars since the beginning of time. There will be wars until the end of time. The idea that man can live in peace and harmony is uniquely modern concept. I'm not against it, but I also don't see it happening. At the root of man's heart is rebellion and peace cannot be forced on those who refuse to agree. I liked your words, though. There is deep introspection here.

I love folk music!
The wars of the unconquered, will they ever win? Will they ever learn?

And it is quite worth reviewing. It also reminds me of that philosophy 101 adage, "Know thyself."
