In the name of … I’ll do it!

In the name of … I’ll do it!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

In ancient times
when Gods and mortal men
walked around embraced
they danced, they sung
and laughed together.
During their time
they all concluded
that nature was the religion
and the world was its church.
Okay everyone listen up
I need a volunteer
to dress up as
a God of Christianity.
Come on don’t dilly dally.
What do I have to do?
Just act invisible
and do absolutely nothing.
Gee! That’s easy!
Why didn’t you say so!
I’ll do it!
So will I!
No! I’ll do it!
Shove off you were God last week.
I want to do it!
Eh! Pick me!
No! Pick me!
What’s the pay like?

Faith is in the knowing without seeing and that is true in most religions.

At the bottom section of this poem it makes me think of how many people are these days. They want the pay without doing much work and not having experience.

Thank you for your words PB.
He is on the Throne Andrew; can't you see Him(spiritually) there, not in a Bank or merchant holidays? I'll tell you what, give me your money 💰. I'll show you where he is while I smile all the way to the Bank.

Thank you JD for your kind words.
Quite a humorous offering here. For eons we have made our gods in our image, and here we are shown how to be a god. I'm on board with the do nothing part, but I still need some work on the invisibility part.

I'll talk to the invisible man for u.
I believe this is a kind of spoof on God and Christianity…..in ancient times, perhaps nature was religion and the world was its church.but today many mock Christianity for all its flaws and less people are true worshipers…..I love the part where you ask people to act invisible and do nothing….it seems you have a good lineup….with or without pay.
Great poem, I really liked it!

Thanks Pat just a bit of satire
Many people find a need to swear by something. Could it be a cultural lack of confident self image? Or is the pointing finger always directed away from ego, just in case it doesn't go as well as hoped? Interesting provocation from a well laid out poem.

Ha. Funny. And sad…
There is never a god or God of nothing.
If God was invisible or even a god beyond our vision, such a being would indeed be a meaningless delusion.

Happily, God is visible all around each of us and even in your ability to create such an entertaining but if poetry.

Continue being Devine.

Scott.

Thank you Scott for your words. Just a bit of comedy.
I will be Bacchus. Good drink make people dance and know laughter. We could save the world. You must be Zeus. When and where do we begin. Here in Michigan, too cold. Maybe Australia? Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
