Heard today, seen tomorrow

Heard today, seen tomorrow

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Silence did not
fall on deaf ears
for he could lip read.
But it all came apart
when she wore a veil.
She dressed for the part.

Thank you for your words J.
It took me a minute to grasp your intention. I can be slow. Ha.
Yet the title is do much a part of this poem to me.
“Here today gone tomorrow” is a phrase we all assume we understand.
How interesting we often never see a person until we peer at them through the “veil”, and hear their words only when they are forever silent.

I love the power hidden in this gem. I’ve found a few other poems like this over the last few days. Less words and more meaning. Like the nutrition in a steak. My poetry tends to be more of a salad…. Lots of fiber and little bits of nutrition hidden here and there. Funny. But true.

Be well and thank you for your poetry.
