Poetry is not a crime

Poetry is not a crime

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Poetry is not a crime
and yet a verse
swings from the gallows.
A robber steals a rhyme
leaving a trail
of unwanted grammar.
There is truth in truth
even if the readers
don’t believe the imagery,
and like all poetry
the sentence is
always handed out
when the stanzas
are put on the stand.

Have the readers
reached a decision?
Yes! Your Honor.
We find the poem
to be exemplary.
Will the poem please stand.
I sentence you to life
to be displayed openly,
and may the readers
be gentle on your soul.

A finely written poem that frames a unique and witty flow of words, Andrew! Many, many thanks for sharing, sir.

Oh I so love this poem on trial. It made me smile but there is so much truth in each one of these lines.

This is excellent in creativity and the way it tells the story is well crafted and fun.
