Working for a living

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Salary is the price
you pay to entertain
a lifestyle while work
steals your life away.

I mean, what is living? We all say we would live if we didn't work for 9-5 but when we don’t work we just don’t to anything either! At least my circle is like this…
But this poem has a great point of course!

Thank you Beren, some things are free
All true and well articulated.
It is so important to have that good balance between private life and work. We need to survive, but we need time for ourselves and family.
Everyone has different goals and circumstances.
We all suffered one way or another.
Health of body and mind are of paramount importance and your mobility. You lose them, kiss all others goodbye.
Just few obvious thoughts came by your inspiration.

You are welcome muchly.
I don't think I've ever had a "lifestyle". I've always thought having life was enough. Work is often less strenuous than our efforts at play. I've worked in sawmills and lumber yards, trucked across the country for thousands of miles and worked twelve hour days in a textile mill where, on summer days, the heat in my work area would be well over the hundred degree F. mark. I'd carry extra tee shirts to work so when I soaked one thoroughly through I'd change out of it, hang it on a pole and put on my dry one and rotate them back and forth, all the while, drinking Gatorade and water to keep from getting dehydrated. Good times. (laughing) We got to do what we got to do to survive. Now I'm old and my body has scars, my joints ache and my hands have gotten soft but I can still stand straight. Most of my old co-workers are dead.

Isn’t that the truth, but when you eventually retire, how well you will reap the rewards. Happy Sunday Andrew. Hope you are well.

I agree wholeheartedly. True that. Sad what we all have to endure to make a living.
Excellent wisdom
