Looking back
I miss a time
I never lived in
where in a moment
I was there
but on reflection
mirroring my shadow
of what could have been
was overshadowed.
I find myself reflecting on the past more and more every day, since losing my brother. I've also been writing like crazy. I could write a book on the "what could have been". I think you've given light to its inspiration, here. I've always loved the succinct nature of your poems. Good to see you on the board today, Andrew!
This poem feels so real. It’s like missing a time you never actually had, but still wishing you did. The shadow and reflection part shows how memories or dreams can feel close, yet slip away. Simple, sad, and relatable. It captures a strange but beautiful type of nostalgia.
Great work.

You captured the moment I portrayed perfectly. Thank you dear poet.
