All in a day’s munch

All in a day’s munch

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Who said
I’d bitten off
more than I
could chew?
I was hungry!

I was involved
in the seven deadly sins
Gluttony!
Like I said
I was hungry!

In fact,
I was starving
Famished!
And after all
life was an appetite .

Anyway, I’m full now
but not satisfied
for I see, I want.
and I’m reminded
what you see,
you can’t have.

Did you hear that?
My stomach is rumbling
the urge is coming
to eat and eat more.

For my eyes are
bigger than my stomach
and she’s the apple
of my eye.

"Life was an appetite"---great line.
reminds me of me. Retired, still doing some teaching, still writing...but there is something more...
something for which I am still starving.
