My GiftA Poem by Amanda Renee
My Gift
She lay her purple arms Around my neck And walked away The water crept up to my knees As I stood in the moonlight With my new gift A fly showed up, to claim what was his (I'd forgotten about the flies) I thought the arms were mine I know the insects have their rights But I overrode them (Purple Arm, Purple Arm) I wish I could have kept them But I couldn't- So, I gave them to the sea
