Broken PromiseA Poem by Amanda ReneePoem/spoken word about a broken promiseWhen I was nine, I PROMISED my brother That I would kill him When I was older, For everything that he did to me. He was about 15, And I was just nine. I did my best to fight, But realized, I could not win until I was older, so, I promised revenge. I told him that when we were old, I would squeeze the little tubes That held him on to life, and then, take it away. The day came when I was in my thirties, (way earlier than I expected). He cut his artery While working on a vinal siding job, Ambulance and cops showed up, trauma unit, blah, blah blah… I showed up at the hospital, Tried to walk in, but threw up, Turned around, And walked away. © 2024 Amanda ReneeReviews
