Stupidity

Stupidity is looking at a picture on a phone

that someone holds in your face.

A Picture that you know, you will not

Be able to unsee.

 

Stupidity is a kid who goes into a trap house

After joining a gang

And expecting them

to not turn on him.

 

Stupidity is these slightly older kids

Holding down the newest one,

Slapping him and stuffing s**t into his mouth,

And photographing it and sharing it with everyone.

 

Stupidity is me feeling sorry for this kid,

Knowing he would do the same,

To anyone.

I guess we are all guilty of "stupid" at times in our lives though some folk go out of their way to take stupid to the next level and beyond. As you rightly say some things can never be unseen and folk who have been hard done by will then go on to do the same to others even though that know the grief this causes.We live in a messed up world!

Your poem evokes emotions Amanda. The stuff you can casually come across on the internet is sickening beyond belief. It raises so many questions. What sort of people are they? Why would they do that?
Do they not feel anything? So many questions. I have learned to click off the second I think I am going to see something nasty. What kids do for kicks these days is beyond my comprehension. The stupidity is not with you. It is with those who permit this stuff to be shown. Have a good weekend. Well written I might add.
