Smile Lines

You told me you were worried about

Your smile lines, and how they would mess up your face…

And I told you,

“Please don’t ever stop smiling", 

And how beautiful and telling they can be.

I mean, what is the point of “not living”

Only to impress those,

Who don’t deserve to be impressed.

True lines. beautifully put, what is the point of “not living” Only to impress those, Who don’t deserve to be impressed. we just need to be ourselves, smile more and not care. when we stop leading our lives because what others might think, or for that matter to be accepted. this little poem has such a nice message, thanks for sharing, Amanda.

EXACTLY. Each line a moment lived, a memory, be it happy or sad...only day this because aged 62 my face is in need of a good ironing but it is less bothering to a man(I think!)

How true and how necessary the mirror proves that what you see is nothing but truth, every line a winner! We talk of age, its lines, its absences and occasional slips but.. then, go out into the all around, lean against a tree to stand admiring another's royal bark and voluptuous shape reaching for the sky! So be it. Your words have laid a beautiful trail, thank you!
