Broken ButteryflyA Poem by Amanda ReneeA poem for my passed friend“Broken Butterfly” Normally I would drop you on the main beach And I would go to the back part, the woods, the tiny little islands And you would sun, and I would wander And we would meet up at the end of the day. But on this day, you said you wanted to come with me, And I really didn’t want you to come, I liked our routine of being apart but together, and meeting up At the end of the day. But I loved you and so, off we went, To the islands and the woods. And when the sun was setting, You came upon a broken butterfly. You sat with it, for hours, awkwardly perched on your knee, Knowing it would never survive, And I waited, watching you watch each other, hoping it would end. When the parking lot was going to close, I tried to urge you on… It took everything in me, to get you, to let it go, And now I realize, you seemed to know, That you were that broken butterfly. © 2024 Amanda ReneeReviews
