Through the Cracks

Through the Cracks

A Poem by Amanda Renee

Beneath the pavement,

There are more layers of stone.

If you are lucky enough, the rain and erosion

Will bring you down through the cracks

to the forgiving soil,

Where you can grow again,

Eventually.

well said. deep thoughts - pun intended. pretty cool. it's only by digging deeply that we find true reason and purpose. for whatever reason, whenever i go somewhere, i can't help but wonder who and what has been there before me and what secrets lie below the surface. most of us go through life only scratching the surface. as my muse thoreau wrote back in the 1800's - “It is remarkable how easily and insensibly we fall into a particular route, and make a beaten track for ourselves.”

Thank you for your thoughtful review. Also, as a fan of Thoreau, have you read Miss Peregrine's home.. read more
The cracks in the pavement. As a child I would avoid them. Unlucky I thought to step on them, but here you present the reader with something else entirely. A much enjoyed perspective Amanda.

I appreciate your hope, you bring it on strong here. And all through a microcosm. All through the pedestrian sidewalk, searching the cracks- then far deeper. Bravo
