A Loop

A Loop

A Poem by Amanda Renee
"

A reflection about my parents

"

So after 60 years of marriage, they exist in a loop of silence,

except for the break of barking dogs or

when their children come to visit.

One of their children struggles to write

About them now.

He will talk to everyone except for her,

Yet, he still takes care of her when she is sick.

She will take fast action to blame him

For everything that has ever gone wrong

Yet, still say’s that he is a good man.

Both admire and blame each other,

after 60 years passed,

This silent Loop exists,

I wish they could break through-

When they met-

Kids, running through a field,

falling in lust, and I wish that sixty years later

it is could still be enough.

Great and well written. It worth your time

Patterns of behavior arise in long relationships that may seem strange to others. There must be a degree of safety in them, because they remain intact over the years. The harness may be rigid, but at least it's predictable.
