Bracelets PoemA Poem by Amanda ReneeA poem by Ms. Reynolds and Mrs. Auld-Owens, Dedicated to the little Gift Giver“Bracelets” So there we stood In the doorway of our classroom, Trying to put on bracelets Bracelets that we both received From a thoughtful student, Fussing with the clasps Feeling guilty that we couldn’t get them on Because the clasps were small. Oh so small, made by small hands.
And we gave our apologies to her the next day About how we couldn’t get the bracelets on… Then, the little gift giver Explained to us that there was another way, “The string is elastic” she said… “Just stretch it and put it on.”
We just stared, stared at each other Realizing our stupidity, The elastic string was there It was right there, All along.
