Drain Pipe

Drain Pipe

A Poem by Amanda Renee

I recede into the world of “whatever”

as the drainpipe remains cold.

Fire and water don’t care about me,

But I need them.

So, I don’t really need you- drain pipe,

Just stay, chill.

complacency, indifference and what have you done for me lately?. i really like this. there is a cutting sarcasm married to a telling metaphor. the opening line really grabbed and the rest never let go. we never really think about the 'drain pipe' until it becomes clogged and causes a problem. we do need it but take it for granted. very cool write - clever and well told. good flow (pun intended).

Thank you so much for your generous words, and I love your pun intended;)
