Return of the OrchidA Story by A. E. RedTherapy session againThe glowing green of the clock burns my eyes. The numbers change, on and on. Snap. 5:53 am. Snap. 6:10 am and I'm late for work. Snap. 9:00 am and I can't move. I'm paralyzed. Does it even matter anymore? I don't recognize this person. Am I gone for good?
I should have known better than to play the games I've been playing. But I took that gamble anyways. Is this another battle or the end of the war? 3 voicemails. 4 voicemails. Message upon message upon message. “Are you okay?” “Are you alive?” I'm digging my toes into the sharp bed that is rock bottom.
Nurses. Doctors. Tears and sky-rocketing blood pressure. I am broken. I am weak. This explosion in my brain...love is a dangerous thing.
And you still. Don't. See me. You never will. And the orchid returns. © 2016 A. E. Red |
