A Poem by Anthony Devin Medeiros

A happy tug at two
Wanting more
To dance and dash
To pretend

A full-hearted embrace
Of moments
The most interesting, dynamic
Reaching in the middle

Where full attention and imagination
Eclipse
The outside noise and hustle
Into focused revelation

Private and profound
The joy of the discovered
Expressed in empathy
Unassailable

In these moments, transcending
Unknowing critiques and lines
Achieving
A purpose of soul

Yet, the Inevitable push
Demanding a return
Away
In heart twist

Into an uneasy path
Of balance, tipping
To threats
Looking to embrace

A quiet return
Of older
More focused moments
In joy jaded solitude

More certain
By filtered experience
Of path and perception
To preserver

Little Monet
Having passed by
Closes the door
Waving too brief

To achieve an unknowable moment
Apart
With discern and distance
To be herself
