'Stone(d)'
Lyn Anderson,
I looked to the image, music and video for reflection and understanding of your poem. It is full of gifts. A list of sparkles which the one in need decides to unwrap and cherish. Which is the best thing to do. Not taking for granted the true heart which loves is so lovely, so needed. Loneliness is not a healthy place to live. for me the following words were really healthy and sweet:
"Not a stone
in your pocket
already stuffed too full
with sorrow and worry -
too full of empty losses ..."
This was well thought out and meaningful.
Blessings,
Kathy
Such a supportive and loving poem here. Clever on its word play as well. A song has just come into my head ‘solid as a rock’ and for the life of me, I can’t remember who the artist is. A good solid write here Lyn.
Interesting exhibition of the meanings "rock" can have. It is something or someone who is steady and immovable in the storms. On the other hand, it can be something that weights a person dow, preventing progress. And, as you note, a cradle can be rocked soothingly. Then there is "stoned" as in high on something, and that whole genre of music. It's amazing how many meanings our language can have for different things. Not sure about that "pleasantly tied" part, though. Be wary of anyone who wants to tie you.
