The Horrors of That Day

I wrote this the day my little brother was in an accident.

You see it on tv
Yet you never imagine it would happen to you.
A story of a kid injured, hit, hurt, shot
Thinking it could never happen to the people you love.
Then it happens
The unthinkable.
Somebody you love,
A person close to you is hurt.
At first you are numb
Unaware of reality.
It seems like it is all a dream.
You wish it was a dream,
But it isn’t.
It really happened.
Your loved one is hurt,
In the hospital.
Nothing seems to be going right,
They just find more and more wrong.
You can’t be happy,
You are fighting to not be sad.
Yet the horrors keep replaying,
The entire event again and again.
It wont stop playing,
Cant stop reliving the moment
That will haunt your dreams.
It keeps you up at night,
You will keep reliving it,
It will never go away.
The horrors that you saw that day.

It's a horrible feeling to have something happen to someone in your family. One of my poems alluded to it. It makes you feel like you'll never be happy again. I still go through days and nights when I feel like things will never be the same. Life can be so hard. I hope you're able to feel better. Good poem.
