Expired Dreams

An old piece I wrote for English that I hoped you all would enjoy.

That dose of reality

Slowly destroying our dreams.

You expect things to go differently,

Just like they do in your head,

But they don’t.

Slowly your dream is dying.

Being destroyed by the reality

That was unwillingly added.

Your mind created perfection.

A perfection, impossible to achieve.

So as your eyes open more

To the truth in front of you.

Your dream continues to fade,

It is replaced by reality.

It fades until it is completely forgotten.

Just remember,

You aren’t the only person

With expired dreams.

I had to read this one a couple time to get the full effect of it, great job. This is something I could read again and again and not get tired of it. It flows very well for being free form, and it calls to mind beautiful images and thoughts that are sad but elegant at the same time. Great work!
