Hail To The Chief

Hail To The Chief

A Poem by an I adrift

You see only what you want to see

Four years down the drain?

There's a first time for everything

Too damn tired

Too damn drunk she says

Adventure is what sets my sails

But I'd take everyone with me

I speak with no hesitation

Am I in the way?

Everyone together

The vast sea passes under us

And we see all our friends

Underwater Paradise

Why do the bubbles try and escape?

Is he brave or is it just his job?

Do these thoughts cross his mind?

The mind shuts off sometimes

Who's to say what matters?

Here's your blanket

A soft blanket of blood

To writher and rot away

Christ has decided that today is your day

Being pulled under

A continuous feeling

Make it go away

Obsession

What happened?

I just panicked

Aww s**t

I'm doing this all wrong

You said something about a lighthouse

Get me out of here

Somebody look out for me

It comes too often

Leaves me speechless

I need to change frequencies

Where the hell am I?

Peace has reached us in its illest form

Hope reaches in triumph

As the way it should

The line's been thrown

I'm holding on with all I've got

But he lets me down and is not

Thoughtless

A snake flies towards me

And pulls me in

I can't stop thinking about this

I've tried praying

But I don't give up

Until were all together again

Home

I can put on the calm act

Teamwork is put to rest

Every man for themselves

Leave her alone

It's coming towards us

I know it's not you

The one time I want it to be

I'm starting to lose it

I'm alright, hold on

Underneath is a different view

Who's left to pull me back?

Pull me over

Flipped upside down

Like I don't know

Hold on

Hanging from the vine

My attempt to be the hero passes

And all I know is fear

Of others, of everything

Sound attracts the ears

Flames ignite the beast inside

Burned out

Predicted

Like they all said

Thank you

I'll paddle until there's nothing left

Until I hear a sound

Any sound with a hint of sincerity...
