Lifestyles of the rich and the famous (or Joel Madden and the art of selling out)

Lifestyles of the rich and the famous (or Joel Madden and the art of selling out)

A Poem by anartao

A peacock strutting for the lights, the crowds rapturous applause,

coaching a new generation on how to sell themselves as w****s

A rebellion of aesthetics that’s been sanctioned and approved,

how to be yourself with individuality removed

Claiming a tradition that is rolling in its grave,

dirt tracks stomped in boots now Nike sneakers on roads paved

The rage against conformity’s been paid to throw the fight,

now selling fat kids deep fried chicken as a corporate acolyte

The mainstream rebel rocker who is loved by all the mums,

promoting all that’s vacuous whilst making obscene sums

Singing songs for poverty like some bono-esque-ish twat,

whilst purveying that same system that leaves nations on their backs

Taking what was born in streets, hijacked by centre stage,

smiling boyz and girlz replace that constant growl of rage,

rips and tears are camouflage to hide your suited soul,

just a poser making millions with an image that he stole
