Meat Market

Meat Market

A Poem by Anastacia Therese

Raw meat bleeds
Stark against white sink
Drain sucks away traces.
Blood-tarnished mallet
Beats the meat
Salt on wounds.
Oven's fiery eye
Face-slapping heat
Sears bloody surfaces.
Ravaged souls
Await burnt offerings
Served on a silver platter.

Hello Again,

So many ways you could take this. Always the literal way and you are watching a butcher do his magic, or in my sick little mind...it's a man slicing into his fresh kill preparing himself a meal.

I wonder what sides he would choose?

Regards,

Matthew

You have a way with words, in that you can give only a few details and let the reader's mind wander a bit to fill in the rest. Well done.

I like your words usage. Each line with purpose. The description create a vision of blade, knifes and blood. Many thing will be served on a silver platter. Last lines were my favorite. A outstanding poem. Thank you.
