I CAN'T IMAGINE

I wrote this when a kid at my school committed suicide.

I can't imagine

How you felt

The pain unbearable

To be able to kill yourself

I didn't know you

But I feel at fault

Probably passed by me

I never came to a halt

A smile on your face

To hide the pain inside

We all have demons

And with you yours died

A permanent solution

For temporary pain

We all saw sunlight

You only saw rain

I can't imagine

How your friends feel

Sleepless nights

Skipping meals

Who's to blame

They think the worst

They missed the signs

They see your hearse

A gorgeous flower

Left alone to wilt

There is no emotion

Solely guilt

I can't imagine

Your parents' hearts

Heavy with burden

Didn't do their part

They take the blame

Back track your life

Where it went wrong

The yearn for a knife

Their happiness left

It's in your grave

Would've sold their soul

So you could be saved

The irony is

Your pain is ended

But in taking your life

The pain is extended

The whole community

Unites in sorrow

Your battle is won

Ours continues tomorrow

this is a wonderful piece of work! You have been able to say so much, so many ideas and so many emotions. You have nailed the feeling, as someone who has lost a friend to suicide I read this and go "wow, this is exact" and it is refreshing to read something like that.
