Discussion about a song

"
The radio was playing softly as John and I were enjoying a late supper.
"Picture yourself on a boat on a river, with tangerine trees and marmalade skies," sang a familiar voice.
I asked, "Do you mean trees the color of tangerines, or trees with tangerines growing on them?"
"Take yer pick," he replied. "I don't actually know. It was just what came out when I started to write the thing."
"I think the trees are that color," I decided. "Orange trees, with orange bark and orange leaves."
"Whatever ye like," John said agreeably.

"I have another question," I said. "What is plasticine?"
"It's this stuff that kids make stuff out of," he explained. "A brand of modeling clay, I guess you'd say."
I nodded, then asked the big question in my mind.
"Who," I wanted to know, "Is the girl with colitis?"
"Where'd that come from?" he asked.
"The song, the same song. You know," and here I sang, "The girl with colitis goes by."
"The girl with kaleidoscope eyes," he corrected, "Although I kinda like that colitis idea." He lit a cigarette, thought for a moment, then added, "Yeah;damn it, I wish I'd o' thought o' that. Those woulda been the words, if I'd o' thought of it."

I guess we would've made a good team, songwriting.

heh. Maybe so. An artist needs a good sounding board, someone to ask questions if they don't and vice versa. This is a fun creative vehicle, and who knows, in another dimension might well have happened. Fun stuff.

wow, dinner with John Lennon? Very cool.
As it is, he's been quite the muse for these little scenarios you've polished to a brilliant shine. What a thrill this one was to read!

I read yesterday that John received his own commemorative stamp from the postal service, and I also saw last week a collector's edition of Rolling Stone magazine, dedicated to him. How wonderful it is to see his memory still lives in the hearts of many!

I do indeed. I've loved them since 1964, when I was 11.
I don't know why but I laughed while reading it! This was fun to read!
Great work!!

I'd have been disappointed if you hadn't laughed. It was funny, and that's why I shared it.
