icarus

icarus

A Poem by Light and ashes

Icarus,

Yes, I have known great sadness,
but I have also known brilliant Sunlight.
I guess, like Icarus, I flew too high.
My wings melted,
and I crashed into the depths of the Seas of depression.
It almost swallowed me whole.
I will not make that mistake again.
My feet are becoming more planted to the ground than ever.
I am becoming more balanced.
I am breaking through.

I think one-day I will fly again.

I love the Icarus metaphor, referring the "dark to light cycle". Fly high!

Thank you, Julie, appreciate you.
Having worked in the mental health field for 26 years, I have known many people who suffered with depression. As you note, it can be an all consuming illness. I was impressed by your positive attitude and determination to "fly again." Just keep aware of your stress level. That may be the heat that sent poor Icarus plummeting.

Thank you, I try to be positive. It just doesnt always feel possible.

I get the feeling this might be more autobiographical than many might imagine .. however, having read between the lines, I think and hope you are more like the phoenix who shall rise again and to lofty heights .. have a FAB weekend L&A .. Neville

lol cool
thank you
But what happened if Icarus flew too low? His wings would get wet and he would plummet. Good reminder for myself. Gravity is strongest when you're going along with it, which eventually we all do. Nice poem. tyfs

So high that his wings (made of wax)

Thankfully you did not suffer the ultimate fate of Icarus. Experience brings wisdom and the beauty around us is enough. Nicely done.

Thank you so much! I appreciate you reviewing.

I believe the moral of this story is that life is a gift and maintaining a balance with everything in moderation will ensure a long one. Much enjoyed. Light and love to you!

Bless you, Kelly.
That’s wonderful. I was worried about feet firmly planted. We all need to fly or at least try :)
