A Girl

A Girl

A Poem by Light and ashes

She was just a girl,
an angel undercover,
disguised as a frightened child.
Shaken and shell shocked  from the traumas she had lived through.
On her skin, she wore the scars of all the battles she had faced alone,
from the War that she faced all alone.
Life seldom leaves any of us unmarked.
She reviled in the Sunlight.
No matter what, she always smiled.
The darkest night could not put out her inner glow.

This poem is brave and beautiful. It shows a strong girl who went through a lot but still shines. I love how she keeps smiling even after so much pain. Her strength and light are truly inspiring. Being a girl is truly wonderful. Thank you for sharing this.

a very raw and heartfelt poem…. poor girl whose war is with her inner self….wounds of her own doing, secret from all, her pain remains inside….
“ an angel under cover” seems a perfect portrayal …. yet “ the darkest night could not put out her inner glow”….it seems she found hope in the sunlight….. excellent writing🌷🌷🌷

An emotional and interesting poem
There's two halves to this writing....the "war with it's scars" and then the sunlight and hope...

I liked these lines...

No matter what, she always smiled.
The darkest night could not put out her inner glow

An ultimately uplifting piece here...:)

thank you..
Quite inspirational, that her inner glow could not be put out; even by the darkest night. Despite it having been implied, that she has experienced the horror of war. This brought to mind, a brave woman; unbeaten and continuing to strive against the odds of life's bitterness.

She has been traumatised mentally, but such anguish is sadly normal; for those who have been amongst war's seemingly countless victims. And, it's the internal emotional wounds; which casual onlookers will be unable to see...
