Maybe.. Someday we will run into each other. Will you stop?

If you see me, Will you stop?

Will you smile if u remember,
Memories of that special time,
The hours talking, sharing dreams.
A forever long ago we shared.

Will it bring back that lingering urge,
Of tender kisses, sun kissed caresses.
An embrace eternity couldn't rip apart.
Hearts beating for a desired thought.

A friendship promised never to end,
Becoming lovers, surprise within.
In a past where we melded into a single soul. Distance became what we once were.

No hard feelings with our goodbye,
Maybe sadness, maybe regrets.
Wishes made upon the stars, never coming true. But hoping someday I would see u again.

I feel a sense of longing, regret and pain with this poem. I was wondering what the last line means? Could you maybe address it a bit further?
