a time to fire one up

smoke 'em if ya got'em
yes drill sergeant

you're in the army now
you're digging a ditch
you'll never get rich
you're in the army now

right on....I love the rhythm and raw energy here—the escalating tension in the language really pulls the reader in, and the repeated phrases give it a punchy, almost chant-like quality. The imagery of army life and the small, human reactions make it vivid and sharply relatable.
