another day

another day 

a worse day

a day unimagined

a day feared

a moment of great pause

as this experiment

in democracy

teetered on the edge

the damage done 

exposed cracks of design

causing near catastrophic event

unseen before 

fears and angers

party line lies

lies of an election stolen

from a sitting president

lies spreading rapidly 

across town

across country

across the world

death of american democracy

indeed on last breath

how it survived

how its well being secured

how the efforts of few

made dramatic defense

giving opportunity

for liberties

another day
