Long road

I'm on a long road

leading to nowhere. 

here, fate is my friend, 

and time is my enemy.

some happy moments, 

some so not,

some haves,

some have-nots.

and, some ghosts of past  

that haunt.

but you won't let it shake your spirit,

you wake in the morning, 

it's another day,

dress, eat,

walk, fight and repeat,

life goes on, right?

and, I remind myself;

there's always a finish line,

a destination in waiting. 

don't let that heart to sink, 

home is where your heart is, 

sun is where your shine is, 

a man is where his conviction is,

the road is where your destiny is.

I love that your poems always cover a very general area, as if I have an hourglass in my hand and as I read all the stages of life, I feel like the hourglass' sands are flowing through my hand. Life is the longest road of all. Full of distractions to keep your focus away from its true path.
I tend to break life into small journeys, rather than the bigger picture and am eternally backtracking to get to my goal, which seems to change with every choice made and distractions of false paths. But I know I'll get there one day... or die trying.
Nicely penned.
