A Wish Concerning Innocence

Written in May 2008.

 One moment was all it took,

For you to see me clearly

And know all of my filth.

 

In an instant, I knew that I would

Do anything necessary to project you

From the world. From myself.

 

Innocence lights your face.

The best thing I could do for you

Would be to leave you alone.

 

But I’m not that strong,

And I need your purity 

Just as much as I need to breath.
