EncephalonA Poem by Kelly B.That one person you just can't seem to shake. They will always be "the one" for you.
They all keep saying I should just forget, as if I could expunge all the remnants of you from my head, that I could somehow extract every piece of you inside my brain, when you detonated without warning and left fragments scattered across its plane. There would be no way I could ever dissect, and pluck each piece of shrapnel from my cortex, when they’re all lodged so intricately inside every lobe, an encephalon allowing danger to call it their home. I’ve got no degree stating that I know brain surgery, or any way to defend, the reluctance to remove the damage from my head.
