Housekeeping

Housekeeping

A Poem by april_moonflower

more dirty dishes and clothes to wash

it's a never ending circle

of things to do

mouths to feed

hands to hold

hearts to tuck into gentle slumber

hoping that dreams fall like stars

on tiny shoulders

blessing them

with the morning sun's every ray

sacrifices and struggles

weary nights and anxious mornings

thunderstorms and rain

beds to be made

wrapped up in peanut butter kisses and ant farms

these are my life's lessons

the seasons of my heart

in the form of time management

or is it a living meditation?

the years passing by at lightening speed

like shadows slipping away

the clouds build

the kids grow and thrive

hungry for life

my heart is content

yet restless for nothing I can see

except the new scenery along the way

watching the seeds of my garden grow

losing myself in the days

they hold me

wrapping thier vastness around me

like a shroud of comfort

something tangible and real sits there

among those dirty dishes and socks on the floor
