The Master's Plan

The Master's Plan

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

I am sure it will outlive me standing long after my own time Taking note of my grandchildren lending life both music and rhyme

"

Tates Tree Swing

There is a great tree where we live

It's a comfort to have it near

We pass by it every day

it has stood for many a year

In the last twenty years or so

as I passed the days of my prime

I found that I kept going back

seeking solace time after time

What amounted to years for us

were days in the life of the tree

It stands there stout, towering, firm

be-lying grace that comforts me

I'd lie beneath the canopy

where I would stare up at the sky

Watching the leaves blow in the wind

counting the years as they passed by

So majestic is this old tree

oh the lives that it's watched over

How many loves have come and gone

amongst the leaves amid clover

Yesterday I happened to see

Tate with his girl beneath its arms

Swinging within its warm embrace

while it happily shared its charms

I am sure it will outlive me

standing long after my own time

Looking after my grandchildren

sharing love of music and rhyme

This tree has watched my son grow up

from a small boy to a young man

Here it stands in graceful beauty

a small piece of the Masters plan

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
The years pass us by so quickly. Sometimes I wonder what has happened to them all. However I am blessed with a loving child who has given me so much. I share these memories with all my friends in reverence to the life and love they have marked.

Indic writings refer to the tree that had its roots in heaven and its leaves down here on earth. It was no doubt in reference to the experience of the man who found a profound experience in himself that was positively not of the earth. In such ways has man come to know of creation and of himself. A revealing write Huckleberry.

really nice poem....yes, trees seem to last forever and have seen so many things, so many lives come and go...

i often wonder what it would be like if a tree could write a poem about that...

the feelings of watching people grow old at the rate they do....and realize that for itself, life moves on in the slowest increments...

i've often imagined trees in Vermont this way...all those years...the trees that were there in the pastures where we used to play as kids...how many are still there, waiting for new kids to come and play, and maybe remembering those of us who were there 50 years ago?

well again your writing...it takes me places..

Thanks
It is the tree of life that allows us to understand who we are, where we have been, what of value we shall leave behind. The flowers of a fruit tree burst into bud in the spring as they dance with the leaves and then they produce good fruit, as you have in the precious son who shall carry on where you leave off. Others are mighty with the memory of their presence, others bend with the changing seasons of life. The tree grows tall, its branches stretch out with marks of the deeds of life embedded in its bark. It stands proud as you do dear friend.
Your words are beautiful, as are the pictures and the music!
A true masterpiece!! May the tree of life forever be a place of solace for you!

Thank you Sheila I hope I get to see grandchildren from tate because he is a better man than I
I often wonder what old trees could tell us. They have seen so many lives unfold under their shade. My husband and I lost our first baby 19 years ago. We planted a Mohogany sapling to remember. We sold that property 10 years ago. That tree towers now. It's branches will shade other families' stories. Loved this, Tate.

thank you I dont know what made me write this It just seemed right
The bristlecone pine were here when Jesus walked the earth.Being one of His creations I'm sure they know and remember each other. When I was a young lad I climbed to the very top of the tallest trees, to sway with them in a dance of nature's harmony.

This is a poem overflowing with sentiment, the story of your family as seen by this tree. Really beautiful. There are old trees in my past as well, and reading this was like visiting with an old friend.
