Weeknight Eulogy

Weeknight Eulogy

A Poem by ~ Art Not Chance ~
"

This is my friend Denise's favorite of all my poems...I've never read it during Writer's Club at school for obvious reasons...

"

Here's to the schoolwork I should be doing now.

Here's to the schoolwork I should have done yesterday.

Here's to the schoolwork I should do this time tomorrow.

You won't get done.

Nobly assigned,

Set out to make me learn.

Never to return to the waiting arms

Of the teachers who love you.

Perhaps one day it will stop,

The bloodshed will end.

Pen will be set to paper

And assignments will be done.

When that day comes your efforts will not have been in vain!

But that is not this day.

Today you are laid to rest

With no name

Unmarked.

Here's to you. That's the most I can do.

This is different, I liked the way it was set up. The ending was really well done and the second half of the poem was my favorite. Nice work.

About
Hey there all! You can call me Tori. I love to write. Yup, that's me. I hate writing these sorts of things. It feels so redundant. What else to say? I write, I read, I act, I sing. I don't play sports.. more..
