The Big Bad Wolf

The Big Bad Wolf

A Poem by Aryastark

 The Big Bad Wolf

I heard his laugh

I heard her cry

Glass smash and things fly

But i huddle together ever so tight

In hopes we won’t be next

We won’t receive that stinging pain

Or that merciless slap

The one who was supposed to love us the most

Didn’t love us back.

But that didn’t stop him

Her gut wrenching cries

For help

That i could not provide

For who would protect the little ones?

Who would sing the pain away?

When the monster grew too large and whisked us away.

He huffed and he puffed and blew the house down

Till there was nothing left

But our whimpering sounds

And her painful cries

Disappearing into his cave once again

Only to come out at night.

We emerge in the daylight

When it is eerily quiet

When the sun rays hit our faces

When the birds chirp in glee

And we forget for a just a moment

That the monster lurks near.

Ready to prowl on our protector

Our warrior

Our defender

Our mother.
