Old Wounds

Old Wounds

A Poem by Alexandra

Maybe I should've never taken you seriously when you said all that.
But that's how it goes.
Deception lies in concrete evidence.
As I stare at a picture taken in your apartment.
That wasn't taken by me.

And how awful betrayal feels.
But how good it feels to be right.

Deception lies in a lot of things.

I like the cancelling out of emotion you describe in the last two lines. Everyone does love to be right, no one enjoys being betrayed.

Well done.
