Black hair tied up
Scrabbling through an attic she once knew & spent time at the age of thirteen She opens a red box Mementos of many years ago from her past lovers I. A notebook filled with poetry: proof of a correspondence between young lovers in the month of May II. Tickets to a highschool dance where vitality was once again revived for a fifteen year old girl who gave her everything to someone who became nothing. III. A keychain from the third who thought it was cool to play loud music and lock the door for privacy that she feared wasn't needed at sixteen. IV. A heart shaped necklace from a two year relationship: you fought so hard and she gave up trying. V. A dog that still lies on her dashboard: her fifth & favorite, she hopes someone will love you just as much as you gave to her. She couldn't give enough. VI. A google doc that's been deleted a year & a half ago, all that lingers is a birthday card from her 19th birthday. It's hard to believe they haven't spoken in months. VII. Lincoln Center 2016 ticket: happiest day of her life and it'll never repeat again. How unfortunate it was when she finally decided to give her all to someone and they didn't want any of it. Black hair let loose She goes downstairs Renewed by all she's been through Forever thankful & open to love once again © 2017 Alexandra |
