42 Jackson Ave.

A Poem by Alexandra

You speak in tongue that I have waited years to hear
Promising & unwavering, you whisper words that I have heard only in literature
In the night, I feel your push & pull
Controlling every fiber that I own

Pelvis Up
Arms stretched
Knees bent

He calls me out, "Be mine, forever."
And just as his rapid breathe slows
And my position returns to neutral

Pelvis down
Arms to the side
Knees relaxed

I stare at the posters & knick knacks
His hand gliding up & down my thigh
The record just finishing side A
The summer heat buzzing through the window
And all I could say is

"You'd be making a great mistake"

Stunning work. The structure, speaking like momentum, an echo of hope, yet only to hit the realization of self-deprecation and doubt. Thank you for sharing.
