Do Not Pull On The Pipes

Do Not Pull On The Pipes

A Poem by Alexandra

Back at Montclair again
What a desolate feeling inhabits this very body knowing that there is so much history in these streets
Whether it's the cinema I spent so much time writing reviews when film was my entire being
Or the bookstore across the street where Ionesco rests
A town that once called my name
Is forever a constant reminder of the hole in my body

So I drove 52 miles to this place just to see you again
And it makes me feel better knowing you're okay
Wearing my hat & a silly pin
I could see that this was the start of something bigger than you

Your band is finally on tour
And when you were up on that stage
Singing away
I couldn't be more proud
Cause this is all you've ever wanted & needed
This is what you live for

And so, in these four walls I found truth
That all I ever cared for is to see you grow
And as much as I hated being there
And as much as the songs clearly depicted our once happy relationship
And as much as it hurt to walk away from you again

It was worth to hear you say:
"This song is dedicated to New Brunswick"

A town where we will always remain
