The Last You Heard Of Me

The Last You Heard Of Me

A Poem by Alexandra
"

We just stopped trying a long long time ago & this is a poem I wrote when we both realized how toxic it was to be together

"
The lyrics speak enough for you to understand what this means
All my life I've been begging you to stay
And to grow a long with me
So side by side we could be together
Stronger than ever

You ignored the signs
You always ignored the warning signs
Right in your face & you still chose to believe that being apart could save us
It could never
How can time & distance prevent another fight?
What makes you think that this all just another step in the process of living this life we promised each other?

And I just want to understand what brings me here
Looking into green eyes that have grown so faded after so many months of distrust, weeping & hardship
It's only time before I walk away from this all
& leave you
It's only time before I become just another face & you will too

I wish you walked me home that night when I said no
And how I wish we could wake up to morning dew
And look at each other one last time when Evan sings the last lines of Aphasia
Knowing it could never apply to us
But, how it does
How it does!
And that's the last you heard of me
