Some Truth For Once

Some Truth For Once

A Poem by Alexandra

Brown eyed lover
I’d love to be the only thing between you and the mattress again
I miss the way we spoke Spanish in the softest tones
You have been the only thing I’ve been setting my eyes on for the last couple of years
Entangled in your rhythms and harmonies
Your voice echoes in my room still
To feel your hard breathes after putting so much work into something you believe in
I believe in this too
Still do

I love you like it was yesterday
When I ran into your arms
In a waking nightmare
And you promised you’d never let me go
And the sheets entangle between our bodies so much
I don’t want to ever wake up
You’re still the first thing I think of
And the last thing I pray for
