Truffaut Told Me I’m Going To Be Alright

Truffaut Told Me I’m Going To Be Alright

A Poem by Alexandra

So maybe you have to grow up for things to get better
I felt it in your bed tonight
Tense shoulders
Side Eye
Growing flush
Stingy commentary
Such a loud sigh erupts
Grab me by the shoulder and pull me in
“What’s wrong?”
“He’s not answering”
“Than you know what to do, Alexandra”

I fell asleep believing I was still home
French Film DVDs to my left
Movie Stubs to my right
A Rutgers Film B.A hanging
I feel to my right in panic
“Nightmare?”

I never missed out on anything.

(Four years have passed by when I decided to ask you for an interview. You still sing song lyrics and cover girls name with my own so “Caroline” or “Flora” don’t exist. Our movie ticket stubs still are here. My favorite Fireworks crewneck is on your sofa still. The best part is...you finally decided to get a full size bed, something I’ve been begging you to get since I was 18 and you finally listened)
