I Left My Laptop Charger

I Left My Laptop Charger

A Poem by Alexandra

Deep breathes
Gapped mouths
Clasped hands
Thumping headboard

The entire apartment is ours
Turn on your heater
"The tattoo on your thigh, I like it"
"It hurt so bad"
"I know."

Bed sheets finally on my bare skin
You hold my chin up
How can you like such ugly, brown eyes?
They're so many other people in this world that can be this lucky
What about her?
"You don't get it. You've never got it even when you were younger. I don't care about anyone else."

The idea that you think of me so grown and changed
I feel like the lotus I was meant to be
I'm drifting and changing
Ebbing and flowing through the murky water
You have no idea how hard it's been for someone like me
I've been moving forward
You can see the medications on your night table

"Have you been feeling better?"
"Yeah, I have. Thank you"
