Le Femme

Le Femme

A Poem by Alexandra

“You’re perfect”
“Your body is lovely”
“Your eyes are exotic”
“I love your hair”
Compliments can grow so old for people like me
Is this the insatiable part that Austin talks about?
I’m always in my own head
Dangling off the bed
Carmen, where do you go when you’ve done what you need to do to move one
Is it the refuge in your corner where needles & cigarette buds are stored
Do your parents know how bad you’ve gotten?
All these drugs and no way to cope
All of these lovers can’t possibly fill the hole in this lonesome soul
I’m here to die
And love you temporarily
So why do you keep talking about my eyes, again?
