What I Don’t Miss About Being In A Relationship

What I Don’t Miss About Being In A Relationship

A Poem by Alexandra

I wonder if people realize
How relationships take away from self
You don’t act the way you would alone
It’s hard to see that power struggle
The interpersonal conflict
In people’s head
When they’re deciding for themselves
Or for their other

Short but sweet! As they would say. Without fancy words or phrasing, it got directly to the point of the matter as proposed in the title. Each negative is framed in one line, and it made me pause on each point given. For sure it's relatable, but I hope that whoever feels this will be able to find that balanced relationship where both can themselves without that interpersonal conflict. It reminds me a line from a song which proposes that we mold ourselves for another and in the process lose our true selves..
