I Held You Like It Was Yesterday

I Held You Like It Was Yesterday

A Poem by Alexandra

So if it means anything
I know you know
That I can’t just let this go
Unless I hear it from your mouth
I need to know you’re okay
With taking these first steps on your own

And we were supposed to go to Berlin next year
Head to the Wall
Watch the art in the museum
Take my hand through the f*****g cold

I loved your old soul
Your alarm in the morning
The way you’d grab my back when you pushed in
How you told me you loved me
And this is what it was supposed to be

I was everything you ever needed
I thought
I thought
I keep thinking
Until it’s a f*****g sentence
That means nothing

But, you said yes.
And now you’re coming home to me tonight.
