What Happened to Alexandra?

What Happened to Alexandra?

A Poem by Alexandra

Fernando walks with such air
It’s as if the world depends on it
I’ll write you all the poems
In the confines of my heart

If you keep talking to me like this
I promise I’ll break myself in half
I don’t know how to manage
Or be loved in this manner anymore

I was so manic
So caught in my own rhythm
I fucked Mike
I fucked Austin
I fucked whoever took two steps too close

You know exactly how to ravish this body
French films during the afternoon
Kisses during the night
Laughs in between
Interweaving bodies at dawn
Biting on my skin at sunset

“I’m so afraid”
“Don’t be, there’s no rush here”

Holy S**t.

This is amazingly honest and sensual and displays the dilemma of growing and learning and letting our selves be free to explore before we grow older.

There's something subtextually horrifying about this poem. I suggest you share your loss. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry. If I'm right, I'm sorry too.

I saw your name and paused - here...been listening to some sounds and movin' to rhythms. as I reached "Holy S**t." I agreed ...and smiled.

I like it. Nice finish. Youth, told old.
